GSA Resource for Veterans
Calling all Veterans! GSA’s Office of Small Business Utilization (OSBU) has created a new resource to educate Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) about the necessary steps involved in doing business with GSA. The Veterans Virtual Coach Discussion Board, created in May 2016, focuses on providing a forum where Veterans can collaborate and share information about common concerns, such as how to acquire a GSA schedule.
Veterans who want to use the site as a resource are encouraged to first post any questions they may have to the site. Then our staff promptly responds to the question. Later, our staff posts both the question and response to the site for other Veterans to view. This increases collaboration among VOSBs and SDVOSBs while also arming these groups with additional knowledge they need to grow their small businesses.
Executive Order (EO) 13360 issued October 20, 2004, aims to increase federal contracting and subcontracting opportunities for service-disabled veteran businesses. In step with the EO 13360, GSA’s OSBU has begun an aggressive marketing campaign to encourage VOSBs and SDVOSBs to visit the site.
In collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, OSBU has aggressively marketed the Interact Site to thousands of VOSMs and SDVOSBs. As of September 8, there are more than 10,000 registered users on the Discussion Board. The board is available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. We respond to questions within 48 hours, or sooner depending on the complexity of the inquiry.
Through this platform, we hope to provide Veterans the information they need to be a successful SDVOSB or VOSB!
Thank you for your service! We look forward to supporting you.
